5 Best Dog Parks and Beaches in Miami

If you travel to the United States with your pet, you have to know which are the best beaches for dogs in Miami and know what you can do.

Miami is home to a handful of dog-friendly beaches, where pets can run on the sand, splash in the waves, and roll around on the green grass of oceanfront dog parks.

Beaches for dogs in Miami

There are dozens of off-leash dog beaches and bark parks throughout Miami. Most beaches prohibit dogs, so this practical guide to dog-friendly beaches in Miami will be very useful for taking your dog for a walk and sunbathing.

Haulover Beach Park

At Haulover Beach Park you'll find a small dog park, a large dog park, and a dog beach located directly on the sand. Dog parks feature enclosed areas with shade trees, picnic tables, benches, drinking fountains, trash bags, and waste containers for a nice afternoon of off-leash running.

On the Haulover Beach Park between lifeguard towers 2 and 3, dogs are allowed off-leash from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It's an incredibly fun experience to watch your dog run across the sand, play with other dogs, and test his limits in the surf. There is a small parking entrance fee per vehicle and then you can enjoy the amenities of the dog park all afternoon.

Barking Beach at North Beach Park Oceanside

Next to you is North Beach Oceanside Park in North Beach between 79th and 87th Streets, where you'll find another dog park with a dog-friendly beach you can go to. Here, you can enjoy the beautiful green spaces with jogging paths, benches, palm trees, and picnic pavilions.

The entire park is dog friendly with leashed dogs and there are also two enclosed dog runs where you can walk your dog off leash with waste bags and receptacles. On 81st street the beach is dog friendly.

Hobie Island Beach Park

Directly off the Rickenbacker Causeway en route to Key Biscayne, you'll find Isla Hobie Beach Park, which is another of Miami's dog-friendly beaches. This is a popular beach for windsurfing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding with incredible views of the downtown Miami skyline. It is also a completely dog-friendly beach. You can let your dog play with the other dogs in the surf.

Beach walk

While South Beach prohibits dogs, the paved Beach Walk that runs parallel to the ocean is the perfect place to take your pup for a walk on the leash. Take 23rd Street and head south through the iconic Art Deco architecture towards Lummus Park and Ocean Drive. This is a great way for you to spend some quality time with your dog in Miami, as well as enjoy the ocean air.

South Pointe Park

At the southern end of South Beach, South Pointe Park is a beautifully landscaped park with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Government Cut, and the Downtown skyline. You'll find playgrounds and walking paths winding along the boardwalk, leading you to a grassy area where dogs are allowed off-leash from sunrise to 10am and from 4:30pm to 8pm.

Note that the area is not fenced off, so feel comfortable with your dog off leash and within these limits. It is a lovely place to start the morning or relax during the day, while our mascot runs and enjoys the Miami sky during the golden hour.
