US Visa Lottery 2024: How to Enter

The United States Department of State opened in October 2022 the registration process for the Diversity Visa Program for Immigrants, better known as the United States Visa Lottery for the period 2024.
This program is designed to offer permanent residence visas to people from countries with low levels of migration to the North American country. Some advantages offered by these visas are study and work permits, as well as the freedom to enter and leave the United States.

The program was created in 1996 under the Immigration Law with the goal of strengthening the diversity of immigrants in the country.
As the system works in such a way that a computer chooses the winners of the Green Card at random, from there it takes the name Lottery of Visas.
How to participate in the Visa Lottery?
In order to enter the registration process, you must meet a series of requirements established on the official website of the Department of State:
Have completed secondary school or its equivalent, which would be the successful completion of a 12-year course of primary and secondary education.
Have worked a minimum of two years in the last five, in a position that requires at least two years of professional training or experience.

When will the Green Card winners be announced?
According to the State Department, the results of the winners will be given from May 6, 2023 to September 30, 2024. In order to verify your position you must:
Verify your participant status with the Department of State.
Enter the confirmation number.
In case you have won the visa, there are several steps to follow. The first is to confirm if you accept the Green Card and if you do, you will have to submit the corresponding application with the DS-260 form.
Once the documentation is attached, you will be summoned for a personal interview with the relatives who will travel with you.
