What to do in Brittany?

Spectacular coasts, historic sites and paradisiacal islands, Brittany is a region with no shortage of emblematic places. Here are some ideas of places to visit and landscapes to discover, for a memorable stay in Brittany.

The Pointe du Raz

Here is one of the most famous places in all of Brittany, to be admired imperatively during a visit to the region. The Pointe du Raz, at Cap Sizun, is a true masterpiece of nature. During a walk on the coastal path, you will discover this rocky promontory which juts out into the ocean and forms one of the most beautiful panoramas in France. On site, a guided tour can allow you to learn much more about the history of the place.

In addition to the Pointe du Raz, Cap Sizun is also home to a nature reserve, and many hiking trails allow you to fully enjoy the wild nature of Brittany.

Saint Malo

Saint-Malo, the corsair city, is undoubtedly a place to discover during a visit to Brittany. By visiting the ramparts of the city, which form a loop of two kilometers, you will be able to appreciate buildings such as the Grand'Porte, the Bidouane Tower and Fort la Reine.

Within the walls of this ancient city are treasures of the region's historical heritage, such as Saint-Vincent Cathedral and the Solidor Tower.

The Grande Plage du Sillon is the perfect setting for a swim in Saint-Malo. This beach, which often figures prominently in the ranking of the most beautiful beaches in France, runs along the northwest coast of the city.

It is a corner of Brittany that I particularly like for its authentic side! Do not hesitate to rent a house in the region to enjoy the nature and beauty of Saint-Malo.

The alignments of Carnac

The megalithic site of Carnac is probably the most famous place in Brittany in the whole world. In Morbihan, hundreds of groups of megaliths have been discovered, but none is as fascinating as that of Carnac. The particularity of this 7000 year old site and classified as a historical monument is the almost perfect alignment of all these stones, erected in order of size.

Nearly 3,000 menhirs are grouped together over a length of almost four kilometers on the two main alignments, Ménec and Kermario. In addition to the menhirs, the site is full of other vestiges of the Neolithic era such as dolmens and tumuli.

The Pink Granite Coast

If you want to discover one of the most amazing natural places in the region, a visit to the Côtes-d'Armor is a must. On the Pink Granite Coast, huge boulders that seem to be held in balance by magic take on pink or copper hues, to form a truly unique landscape. Strolls by the sea are obviously part of the typical activities in Brittany, and this place lends itself perfectly to it.

During an outing on the coastal footpath from Ploumanac'h to Perros-Guirec, you can discover a dreamlike setting and some spectacular buildings such as the Men Ruz lighthouse. Built in pink granite, and itself perched on a gigantic block of granite, this lighthouse fits perfectly into the decor. From its summit, you will have access to a breathtaking view of the sea and the surrounding islands.

Visit the islands of Brittany

Brittany is of course famous for its coasts, but it would be a shame not to take advantage of a visit to the region to also discover its islands. In these places located a little away from the world, a very special atmosphere emerges.

In the Côtes-d'Armor, the island of Brehat has a typical charm. Very touristy during the season, it nevertheless retains its authenticity, and you will quickly understand why it is nicknamed the island of flowers.

Belle-ÃŽle-en-Mer is another emblematic island in the region, this island of Morbihan located twelve kilometers off the peninsula of Quiberon, is astonishing for its wide variety of landscapes. Belle-ÃŽle also has a rich cultural heritage, and a weekend on the island will not be too much to appreciate all that it has to offer.
