San Diego Zoo, among the best zoos in the world

The San Diego Zoo is one of the largest in the United States and around the world. Located in southern California, it was created in 1915 and has about 4,000 specimens of more than 800 different species. It is one of the parks that has a giant panda bear.

With thousands of wild animals, including many endangered species, it stands out among the world's zoos for several reasons. With more than 4,000 animals representing 800 species, the San Diego Zoo is home to animals rarely seen at other zoos.

Among the pearls of the park, the panda family generates a great call. This is one of the most unique and beloved species on the planet and very few have seen it before outside of its natural habitat in northern China.

In addition, at the San Diego Zoo there are not only animals, but also activities for the whole family. One of them is the San Diego Zoo Safari, where you can "immerse" yourself in an African savannah and enjoy animals such as giraffes, elephants and lions.

And there's more: The San Diego Zoo pays homage to California's animals past, present, and future in the Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey, where you can learn about fossil digging and explore prehistoric fossil remains, and visit current wildlife habitats that include elephants, a pair of lions and a jaguar.

Plus, you can learn about the causes of the extinction of the mammoth and saber-tooth tiger, and stop at the Pleistocene Playground to learn about ongoing conservation projects.

A must: meet the charming panda cub Xiao Liwu ("Little Gift"), who can be seen (weather permitting) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every day.
