Playa del Carmen: Partying in the Caribbean

Playa del Carmen is one of the favorite vacation destinations. It is an idyllic place in the Riviera Maya with fine white sand and blue-green waters.

Coastlines that are a luxury in themselves are added to the most privileged shopping, good music, tireless nights and excursions through the jungle. Playa del Carmen or simply “Playa”, as those who know and love it call this destination, is a sophisticated and diverse city on the Caribbean coast of southeastern Mexico.

Carmen beach

Playa del Carmen is one of the favorite vacation destinations, especially in the summer, according to Trip Advisor, since it is an idyllic place located in the heart of the Riviera Maya with fine white sand and blue-green waters.

What to see in Playa del Carmen

The sum of fine sand plus that warm and crystalline sea, results in delicious beaches where the day flies by without realizing it, while you rest or dare to practice some new water sport.

There are kitesurfing excursions that are very worthwhile. If you prefer action, in Playa del Carmen you will find water activities such as windsurfing, jet skis, kayaking or diving in the impressive Mayan coral reef.

Urban life is an equally seductive element and it is easy to spend hours strolling along the fascinating Fifth Avenue, among fashion boutiques and good seafood restaurants and traditional Mayan cuisine.

Xcaret

There are several essential walks in the surroundings. One of them is to Xcaret, where you can snorkel or swim with dolphins or friendly nurse sharks. In addition, there are folkloric shows that will bring you closer to the local culture.

Deer point

A little further south, Punta Venado is a crystalline bay that offers excursions through the jungle to a beautiful cenote with pristine waters where you can swim.
Back in Playa, the dynamism explodes at night with a splendid music scene, for all tastes, and with hyperactive and boisterous discos or bars to chat and have a drink.

Tulum

The old walled port of  Tulum, which had functioned like this for about 1,500 years and was still inhabited during the first years of the arrival of the Spanish, is today a protected national park.

Go up to the Castle and enjoy a panoramic view that allows you to identify any boat that approaches the coast. Imagine the Mayan navigators guiding their ships into the open channel between the coral reef.

The Great Cenote of Tulum

It is the most famous cenote in the region for its ability to receive lovers of swimming, snorkeling and cavern diving.

Peek through its circular mouth that lets you see the mirror of water. Go down to the wooden platform, touch the fresh water and take a dip that awakens your adventurous spirit.

Discover the tranquility of the aquatic world and float in the caverns full of crystal clear water, meeting turtles and groups of small fish that flutter around the environment.

If you are certified for it, dive to the bottom in the ten meters of depth that make floor and get to know the aquatic life.

Riviera Maya Jazz Festival

The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is held here every November, a good opportunity to enjoy fantastic performances by exponents of this genre from around the world. And it is also when the cosmopolitanism of the city reaches its splendor.

The beauty of the beaches and the numerous activities that Playa del Carmen has for you will force you to return.
