Nika is a small island that is part of the Maldives , an island country of 298 square kilometers of mainland and just over half a million inhabitants, located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Sri Lanka and India.

A biological agricultural self-production system has also been inaugurated , which produces vegetables through aquaponics (plant cultivation in tanks and trays with water, which is reused in a "closed cycle").
