The new interactive exhibit “Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience” will open to the public on March 15
SeaWorld San Diego announces the opening date for the highly anticipated Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience , which will officially open to the public on March 15. This new attraction, the first of its kind at any SeaWorld park, offers guests a combination of aquariums featuring various species of jellyfish and immersive activities, creating a truly unique experience for the entire family.
The exhibit will provide an opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of these animals that have existed since before the age of the dinosaurs. With both educational and entertainment components, the attraction will allow visitors to meet and even touch these extraordinary creatures.
Jewels of the Sea will take visitors through three galleries featuring various species, including moon jellies, sea nettles and upside-down jellies, as well as activities designed for children and adults.
Among the exhibit’s highlights are one of the largest jellyfish cylinders in the country, an immersive passageway surrounded by jellyfish, and a digital room with LED screens, which show the differences between species in habitat. Each environment invites visitors to discover the elegance and mystery of these animals, providing a unique perspective on their fascinating biology.
The Jellyfish Passage
This area invites visitors to walk through a 10-foot-high passageway surrounded by moon jellies, creating a bright and immersive atmosphere. Along the way, interactive exhibits reveal fascinating facts, and visitors can admire one of the tallest jellyfish aquariums in the U.S., at 13 feet high.
Medusa Gallery
The Medusa Gallery rounds off the journey with a stunning visual experience. Vibrant LED screens transform the space into a fully immersive 360° environment, recreating the deep ocean with bioluminescence effects and a kaleidoscope of colours. Here, visitors can observe species such as sea nettles and carambola jellies, while panoramic windows offer a detailed view of the different stages of the moon jellies’ life cycle.
A commitment to conservation
More than just a visually striking exhibit, Jewels of the Sea reinforces SeaWorld’s commitment to marine conservation. The jellyfish in the exhibit have been bred in a specialized propagation program, focused on preserving the species.
